The Scones and Spinsters Teaparty

18/11/05

TAKE THE CHILL OUT OF NOVEMBER:
THE SCONES AND SPINSTERS TEAPARTY, TEACASTLE'S DOILIE SHENANIGANS.

Friday 18 November 2005 (TBC)
1pm-onwards; ambient tea from ten past 1; Biskotts from quarter past.

Presenting through a Biskott crumb haze a mixture of old lady chic and tearoom glamour embracing ladylike manners and idle gossip, joining the etiquette of the past with the kettles of today.

Sip in a tearoom where no surly waitresses will forget your order. Delight in our well stocked cake stand; let our Biskotts take your fancy; admire the handles on our tea pots! Our CD player plays what we interpret as old lady sounds from the 20th century - vintage, retro and modern old lady listening.

Cast off your inhibitions. Be inspired by Nora Batty, the Golden Girls, old Scottish tearooms, net curtains, your finest china, lace doilies, Isa, Jack and Victor, Helen Daniels, Jessica Fletcher, the Queen, Mad Hatters, putting jam on mice, mints in handbags, spitting on hankies, Mrs Doyle, embroidery, pill box hats, brooches, baggy tights, shoogly tables, fairycakes, dementia, cream teas, scones, custard creams, and all things old lady. Strict dress code. No jeans or trainers. We reserve the right to refuse admission.
